God Save The Queen

Back during my famous Vacation Giveaway Extravaganza part of the GRAND prize was a “Queen For The Day” interview and post here at The Nuggets. Well the lovely and big hearted Martha of A Sense of Humor is Essential was that prize winner.

Oh she had no idea what she was in for, did she? Well maybe she did, being the faithful Nuggetier that she is. She has even given The Nuggets a cool nickname CNOW. I’ll confess it took me like 5 or 20 times to figure out what the heck it meant.. DUH! So here you go gang.. Martha QUEEN NUGGET for the day, make sure you stop by and leave her a comment curtsy. (insert the music for My Country Tis of Thee.. cuz we ripped that off from the Limeys)

An interview with Her Highness Martha, Queen of the Nuggets:

1. If you could be any breed of chicken what would you be and why? What portion of the bird do you think is the nugget?
I would be a Polish Chicken because they have great head feathers that never need hairspray. Plus, I’m part Polish. I have no idea what part is the nugget, I don’t think I want to know.

2. A famous literary agent emails you about you writing the next great American novel, what would you tell him you were writing about?
He’s got the wrong email address, person.

3. What did you want to be when you grew up? Now that you’re grown up what do you want to be?
I’ve wanted to be a wife, mother, and a nurse. Also, an actress, makeup artist, casting agent, animal nurse, interior designer, stylist, teacher, jewelry designer, benefactor to the less fortunate, and independently wealthy.

Now that I’m grown up, I still want to be a wife, mother, and nurse and all that other stuff still and sometimes I get to play at those roles which is really fun. Well, except the independently wealthy one, still working on that.

4. The accomplishment you are most proud of.
My family but that’s a group effort. My individual accomplishment is that of being a genuine and kind person and a good listener. My dog confirms this.

5. Five people you’d want to have dinner with (dead or alive) and why?
You, of course, because I want to meet the person who is game enough to interview me. Is this all at once? Cause the rest are deceased and I don’t want to creep you out. Plus all the grandparents used to bicker a lot so you and I should have dinner just us two living ladies.

Jimmy – My much missed and loved older brother who died too young at 24 years old, twenty four years ago. He was a great guy.

Grandma Rose – My Dad’s mom, a source of unconditional love, a true friend

Grandma Sylvia and Grandpa Joe – My mom’s parents, they loved all the grandkids with a passion, but Ov Vey! The bickering! (Hmm, maybe I should just invite Abraham Lincoln and the Dalai Lama and be easy on myself!?!)

6. Boxers or briefs?
Depends on the occasion and time of day.

7. Being a Nurse, how would you best treat blog addiction and deal with health care reform?
Talk about a loaded question!!!

Blog addiction, what’s blog addiction? I do think you have to balance virtual vs. real world stuff and just step away from the keyboard sometimes.

Health Care Reform in the U.S. is off to a rousing start isn’t it? It’s just another reason to despise politicians and special interest lobbyists. Health care should be a non profit enterprise, period. That change alone will increase the quality and availability of care. Politicians and the public needs to quit screaming at each other and start listening and coming up with real solutions for our very expensive and inefficient system. Anybody who is favor of the status quo typically is well insured and has never spent time taking care of the indigent and uninsured or talking with health care providers. We all are already paying for public health care, just in a very ineffective and poor quality manner. Don’t believe me? Please see for yourself and volunteer or visit your local senior center, clinic, or hospital. Education is the first step to addressing this issue for our future.

8. Dogs or cats?
Both, but prefer cats. I am owned by a Tuxedo Manx, Abigail,

and a Yellow Labradoodle named Charley.

Snakes or bats?
I have a healthy respect for snakes living in Southern California as they keep the rodent population controlled. I have always liked bats especially since they eat bugs. It’s all about vermin control and the food chain for me.

Umbrellas or hats?
Umbrellas for rain, hats for sun. Is this a trick question?

Tits or tats? Tits – homegrown, breastfed two sons with “the girls”. No tats.

9. Why do you blog?
I started blogging after being introduced to blogging through my pediatric cancer patients’ families who have blogs to update on their child’s condition. I telecommute which can be somewhat isolating, so I have found I enjoy the journaling and community aspects of blogging. I can also be quite the commenter, so it seems only fair to give folks the opportunity to weigh in on my little corner of the world. It’s amazing how well you get to know your fellow bloggers and the genuine bonds that develop.

10. Who are your top three favorite bloggers (We KNOW I’m number one so tell us 3-4).

This is tough, CNOW. I love so many bloggers for their unique voices and point of views and they know I do.
