Menopause Awareness Month: Um, Why Should I Care?

Those dark circles under my eyes, they had to be smudges on the mirror. Four hours of sleep a night is normal, right? My temporal lobe has started taking the occasional sabbatical to points unknown… literally…I can’t remember crap! Was all this ‘burning the candle at both ends’ finally causing me to fall apart, or could it be something less melodramatic?

Then, my lovely mother-in-law then asked me the most shocking of questions;

“Honey, could it be Menopause?”

You have got to be joking, I’m way too young for that!

Pfft, I’m only in my EARLY forties woman, bite your tongue!

Turns out there is this thing called perimenopause… sort of like the prelude to the big show that leads to ‘no show’ <–ha, see what I did there?!

One out of three women in the U.S. suffers from the symptoms associated with perimenopause as well as the “real deal”, menopause itself. Nearly 60% of these women don’t seek treatment, whether that’s because they don’t know there is a solution or they’re just too damn busy… maybe both, I’m not sure.

What I am sure of is this: they are not alone. I am not alone. There is help for those us muddling through our days feeling bitchy one moment, weepy the next. Sister, you aren’t the only one who sweats like a pig in heat in the middle of the frozen foods aisle. The extra weight and exhaustion? Yeah, a bunch of us have to deal with that crap too.

So where can get help? Start with your doctor. Yes, YOU take YOU to the doctor, dammit!

Have an honest conversation him or her. Tell them what you’re going through, don’t marginalize it or excuse it away as just another part of this chick gig. Let your doctor help you figure out if this is a “thing” or not.

Then consider checking out Estroven. Honestly, I wouldn’t have thought to do this for myself, had they not reached out to me, providing product and asking me to help spread the word about Menopause Awareness Month. I’d have kept my head in the sand and ignored the fact that my body was trying to tell me something.

Each Estroven product contains naturally-sourced ingredients that go beyond reducing hot flashes and night sweats to relieve many of those other nasty menopause symptoms we’d all rather ignore. They make five products, each addressing a different symptom:

Estroven for Energy

Estroven Nighttime

Estroven Mood & Memory

Estroven Weight Management

Estroven Maximum Strength

For the last week I’ve been taking Estroven Nighttime. My brain seems to have a faulty off-switch causing me to have a really hard time getting to sleep. Though I’m not drifting off as quickly as that hussy Goldilocks does, I have noticed that the nightly cacophony of mental note taking has quieted far earlier, and I’d wager it’s thanks to the Estroven.

Estroven’s products have been developed with many ingredients that reside in nature or are naturally-sourced. They don’t contain synthetic estrogen, which is something that I really like. Anything with “synthetic” in it just scares the crap out of me.

My mother suffered from uterine cancer, sadly resulting in a hysterectomy in her late 20’s. That left me, the only girl in the family, with no ‘case study’ for how my transition through menopause might go. Thankfully the resources available during Menopause Awareness Month can help me – and you – understand the process. Estroven can help us manage the symptoms.
